Susie is most definitely a fitbeautie. She is one of the most honest, genuine and supportive beauties I know. She lives and breathes health and fitness and loves to share what she knows (and has been doing so for at least the past 15 years that I’ve known her!) She is a fun and feisty mamma who loves her dark chocolate, her kids and her pull ups. She’s also one of those vibrant souls that inspires people everywhere she goes. Of course I wanted you to meet her! We caught up for an interview and he’s what she said.
In 20 words or less, tell us who you are
My name is Susie Proffitt, a.k.a Exersusie! I am a 37 year old mother of three who is truly and utterly obsessed with health and fitness – I love it and cannot get enough! I started exercising at 18. The confidence it gave me changed my world and in year 2001 I became a Personal Trainer.
You are really a fitbeautie! How often do you train?
I train five days a week on average, three of which include strength training. I keep cardio to a minimum but I do walk my dog everyday. Yoga is a daily practice…. even if time only allows a few salutations.
What are your favorite exercises?
My favorite exercises are pull ups, hanging dips and basically all yoga poses. I love challenging body weight exercises and I think staying flexible and keeping the spine in proper alignment is the key to youthfulness!
You look so youthful-What is your favorite beauty secret?
I wish I could say sleep but that’s not true! It must be the healthy food, sunscreen and lots of blush!
What is your nutrition strategy?
What are you favorite ways to nourish your heart, mind and soul?
Nature is nourishing to me and I love to walk in fields. Fields with long grass and wild flowers make me happy.
What to you, is the most important element of healthy living?
Most important element of healthy living (besides exercise and not putting toxic crap in your body) is to love and give love. To truly love yourself as you are and be grateful for your life is the key. When you feel this way you are able to share that love and help others. That is what we are here for. This is not always easy for me to remember, but I know it is the truth.

What have is the most important lesson you have learned in your fitness journey?
Most important lesson in my fitness journey, is that feeling strong physically directly relates to feeling strong mentally and emotionally. Early on I stopped trying to look a way that wasn’t natural for me (skinny) and I started to embrace the exercises I was good at. In doing so, I gained strength, muscle mass, confidence and more happiness then ever before!
